Happy New Year - Ready to go Green? |
|
From everyone at Cinemagic, we wish you all a Happy New Year! May times be prosperous and dreams come true. Staying in touch with current technology offering, client demand and environmental concerns, Cinemagic announces new GREEN servers to its offering of hosting solutions. From the 2008 Waterford Crystal LED Times Square New Years ball to the increasing choice in hybrid vehicles ...green, energy conscious use is front and center. Solar panels run the data center, not energy credits making this a 100% solar powered solution. Solar tubes bring in natural light from the outside providing light during the day. Green servers feature the AMD Opteron using sixty percent less energy and generating fifty percent less heat. IBM BladeCenter servers are now being purchased and will consume less then half the power of normal data center servers. The most responsible construction methods were used to keep the green philosophy going at the data center. Several layers of environmentally friendly insulation yield an R-value equal to R 50. This not only keeps the cool air in and the hot air out, but reduces the amount of energy necessary to run the data center. Data center walls were painted with green seal certified low VOC paint. Eco attention reaches all the way down to recycling of paper, aluminum and plastics products as well as use of environmentally sensitive cleansers. Cooling systems are energy star compliant redundant and serviced monthly. The cooling systems monitor outside air temperature and when it gets 50°F or below, they draw outside air in, filter it and direct it into the data center thus saving electricity when its cool outside. Backup generators run on propane gas. Propane gas is cleaner burning than diesel, which is found at most other hosting data centers. The federal Clean Air Act Amendments (CAAA) heralds propane as one of the solutions to a cleaner, healthier environment as it vaporizes rapidly and won't contaminate soil or groundwater. The generator is for emergency use only and is tested weekly.
